Being a sedentary individual during my teenage years, I quickly discovered that any insecurity and lack of confidence arose from a lack of fitness.

Upon my first experiences at a gym, I immediately found a profound sense of calm and fulfillment once I became aware of my physical potential. The more I pushed myself within the realm of personal fitness, the more success I found in other aspects of my life.

Since first stepping into a gym in 2005, I became aware of the powerful transformative effects training has on people that go beyond just reaching physical goals.

As a fitness professional, the most rewarding thing for me is to see clients who are ordinary men and women break through plateaus and perform extraordinary things. Being involved in martial arts and fitness for over a decade has taught me that structure, consistency, persistence are just a fraction of things that can be built through physical training.

My goal as a trainer is to help clients see the potential in themselves and harness their own focus to achieve great things in and out of the gym. As my hero Bruce Lee once said “the successful warrior is the average woman, man with laser like focus”.

Personal growth and better self awareness are the main motives I strived for in life. I was introduced to health and fitness after high school in order to improve my overall health and I was hooked instantly with the way it changed me from a physical, mental, emotional and energetic perspective. As time went on and I gained more hands on experience with training and healthy eating, I begin to develop a curiosity and being more analytical with the approach that I do to reach my fitness goals and understand more the approach in depth. Self improvement and wanting to learn more are the things that lead me to where I am now with my current journey as a fitness professional and coach.

In which ever endeavour we pursue in life, I'm a firm believer on being process driven and most importantly having fun with what we do. Fun in a sense we gained tons of valuable life lessons/perspectives and practical application during the process and we begin to build character in pursuit of the best version of ourselves. When we enjoy the process of achieving a goal, putting in the work and being persistent it becomes a habit over time.

Having done the personal training certifications in Tav College and the FIT certification at the YMCA, growing my knowledge in the health and fitness field through workshops and seminars will always be an opportunity for me as a personal trainer/coach to build my craft and being more hands on with the application of health and fitness with my clients. Things always evolved in the area of health and fitness as there are no one best approach when pursuing a fitness goal.

As a personal trainer and coach, my goal is to bring value and content and teach my clients how to approach their fitness endeavour through training, nutrition and health in terms of longevity with health and physical transformation. And help them established on making health and fitness a lifestyle. Maximizing people's full potential brings me a lot of fulfillment and a sense of wellbeing as everyone is truly capable of being the best they can be in all aspects of their life.

I studied english Literature and Philosophy at Concordia University and received my personal training certification from the YMCA F.I.T. program.

I played competitive soccer during High School and Cegep, but stopped playing afterwards because I was frustrated with my lack of stamina and muscle strength.

This all changed when, one day, I witnessed one of my former teammates working out at the gym. Watching him punishing his pectorals with several brutal drop sets, each one performed until failure, made me realize how lazily I had been working out! By learning from him, and using his method of technique and intensity, I went from a skinny 155lbs, to a lean and rock-solid 215lbs!

For over 4 years now, I’ve been channeling that same passion, energy and intensity into each of my clients. I’ve also trained people with injuries (i.e. herniated discs, meniscus tears), and hormonal imbalances (i.e. PCOS), and each person’s success story always shares the same theme: if you stay consistent, never give up and lead an insulin-controlled lifestyle, you will see results!

Perhaps because of my artistic background, I approach personal training in a similar fashion as a sculpture or painter. For example, as the sculpture, or painter, uses various tools at his disposal (i.e. paint brush or clay) to form their artwork, I use use my raw materials (my knowledge of training, nutrition, and corrective conditioning) to mold my client into the best and most aesthetic version of themselves.

Elena Grivas

  • Personal Trainer
  • Athletic Therapist

With a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from McGill University, and as a certified Athletic Therapist with a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Therapy from Concordia University, she strives to use her knowledge to make your health a priority.

Elena’s passion for fitness started at a young age, always interested in sports and doing any activity that was thrown her way as a child; she competed mostly in swimming, as well as water polo and synchronised swimming. It was this love for the water that also introduced her to the gym when her coach had her do land training to improve performance. Unfortunately, her own swimming career came to an end due to chronic injuries, but it was then that her passion for fitness also became a passion for health and helping people. All throughout Cegep Elena volunteered at physiotherapy clinics and eventually found her niche in athletic therapy.

From swimmer to local gym goer, and from swim instructor to personal trainer and athletic therapist, her training style reflects the wide of experience she’s had, and nothing concerns her more than the satisfaction of her clients.

"Exercise is medicine…" It was only until a few years ago I truly understood the meaning behind this.

Since I was a child, physical activity has played an important role in my life. For over 15 years I’ve played competitive baseball, including 2 years of NJCAA Division 3 baseball at Niagara County Community College. Still to this day I continue to participate in organized baseball and other recreational sports activities.

It was at the age of 14 when I started resistance training. After seeing results and pushing my body to limits I could only imagine, along with the euphoric feeling you get after an intense workout, I instantly fell in love with this lifestyle and have become accustomed to it ever since. This led me to complete my personal training certification at the YMCA. However, I didn’t stop there; I wanted to enhance my knowledge.

After graduating from Concordia University with a bachelor’s in Health, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology (HKAP), I learned that the health benefits of exercise are immeasureable: ranging anywhere from improving muscular strength, endurance and core stability to refining higher levels of cognitive function.

My passion for sports and resistance training, along with the accumulative knowledge I’ve obtained over the past few years has driven me to pursue a career in health and fitness.

What I strive to bring to the table is to create individualized programs tailored to the needs of my clients. This includes proper progressions throughout their training to accommodate to their fitness goals, while providing constructive feedback and reinforcing proper technique.

As a personal trainer and wellness coach, my goal is to enlighten others on the countless benefits of physical activity and exercise, help my clients achieve a sense of comfort and self-awareness of their body and, ultimately, help them discover the best version of themselves.
